Those who enjoy the adventure of scuba diving may want to check this statistic out; 8.5 million certified scuba divers in the US, 68% suffer from TMD. Symptoms include; headache, ear ache, facial pain, discomfort chewing, toothache, sinus infections and vertigo.

A plan to consider or address with divers is;

Weight of mouthpiece, temp of water, length of time for dive, bite relations for stabilization, diet, pain control. These are risk factors associated with Diver’s Mouth Syndrome. Ask your dental hygienist about a customized mouthpiece via dental practice or scuba manufacturer.
